Objective

Technology-facilitated violence is a relatively new form of violence that is not yet widely understood or recognised by many people. Common types include cyberstalking, harassment, and revenge porn, causing severe and lasting harm to victims' mental health, reputation, and personal and professional relationships. The project addresses the marginalisation and stigmatisation of digital violence as a serious issue while it is often dismissed or not taken seriously. While younger

generations are often more familiar with this form of violence, older individuals like baby boomers, Generation X, and some millennials may have limited tech experience, increasing their vulnerability. By specifically targeting and including age groups of 35-50 in the project's outreach and education efforts, the project is breaking new ground in addressing an often overlooked and marginalised demographic.

Thus, the main objectives of the ESSENTIAL project are:

- to increase awareness and resilience against technology-facilitated violence by equipping women with practical skills, knowledge and strategies to protect themselves;

- to increase public understanding of the nature and impact of online violence, engaging key stakeholders and developing tailored awareness-raising educational campaigns;

- to provide emotional support and solidarity to survivors of technology-facilitated violence by facilitating peer-to-peer support, access to practical and educational resources and empower them to become advocates to build a community of support and resistance.

Activities

The above-mentioned objectives will be achieved through 1) Development of an interactive ESSENTIAL handbook 2) Establishment of ESSENTIAL support community 3) Implementation of educational awareness-raising campaigns and actions.

By reaching across generations and promoting inter-generational learning through awareness-raising campaigns, ESSENTIAL contributes to building a better understanding of the issue among various age groups, fostering a stronger sense of community, and strengthening digital resilience for everyone involved.
